FutureSearch is almost always conducting multiple depression research studies in Dallas, TX. Most depression studies are looking at how new, investigational medications help the symptoms of depression. Clinic study visits involve an evaluation of study participants’ progress, including ongoing symptoms of depression, medication tolerance, periodic lab work and self rated questionnaires. Our clinical research trials for depression last anywhere from 10 weeks to over a year. Shorter depression studies typically involve subjects visiting our clinic weekly for two or three months for evaluations by our medical doctors and clinical staff. Longer studies may last up to a year or longer, with visits being stretched out to monthly.

Depression research studies can cover many ages, starting as young as 18 and reaching up even past age 75, depending upon the study. Often participants have already been diagnosed with depression, but not always. Requirements vary from study to study. It is best to contact FutureSearch to see if we have a study that is right for you. At the conclusion of each study, our study doctors will ensure that each participant has a plan for accessing and continuing treatment. Aftercare may be briefly provided by our physicians at the conclusion of a trial to participants who qualify. Those who qualify for a depression research study must be at least 18 years of age and able to provide written, informed consent.

What is Depression?

Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. While everyone might occasionally feel sad or blue, a clinical depression (doctors call it major depression) does not pass, interferes with daily life and can cause pain for both the patient and those around them. In addition to persistent sadness and low mood, people with depression lose interest in things and people around them. Depression can cause trouble with sleep, appetite changes and loss of energy. Concentration and focus can also be affected. Sometimes, people with depression feel hopeless, helpless and even weary of life.
